About the Photographer
Hi, I’m Kris Aithne Millering. I live south of Seattle, WA, and I like to make pretty pictures.
I always knew that I wanted to be an artist of some sort when I grew up (well, that or a jockey); frustrated by lack of hand-eye coordination, I turned to writing. In 2001, I found myself in possession of a digital camera, and quickly recognized that I had in my hands the means to make magic.
I begin with the deep belief that every person who lands in front of my lens is beautiful, and that it is my job that show what I see to the world. My photos capture a wide range of moments, expressions, and situations. I specialize in families of all sorts, whether conventional or not, and believe that love in all its forms is wonderful. I am very comfortable working with people who are of all sexualities and genders.
I also love taking pictures of pets, especially dogs. Capturing the personality of an animal takes patience, time, and often a number of cookies. (And often a measure of luck!)
About the Assistants

Boone, also known as Spotty Dog, is a two-year-old tricolor Papillon who likes asparagus, going for long walks, and stuffed toys. He comes along with me when I’m shooting landscapes, keeps me company when I’m doing photo editing, and is generally my spotty little shadow. He’s extremely large for a Papillon, tipping the scales at just over fourteen pounds.
In true Papillon fashion, Boone is an active, happy dog who needs some time to warm up to strangers.

Pip, also known as Red Dog, is new to assistantship but she’s taking everything in stride. She’s a mix of Pomeranian and standard long-haired dachshund, about a year and a half old. Pip loves people, especially men; according to her, there are two different kinds of men in the world: her boyfriends, and those about to be her boyfriends. She loves people of all sorts, especially children.
She can often be found on my lap while I’m attempting to edit photos. She’s also starting to become reliable enough on stay to come out on shoots with me.
